Students example

Students

Most of the cast are Paper School students. Kaaatie introduced Claire, Engel, Bubble, Lana and Abbie as good students who love their studies, even if Lana and Abbie hardly understand anything. Students dress in simple black and white, and many have small black horns, a tail or a head that floats with no neck.

Teachers example

Teachers

Each teacher has one subject and one school supply worked into the body: Miss Circle teaches math with a giant drawing compass for a forearm, Miss Thavel teaches language with letter blocks along her head, and Mister Demi teaches music with a fringe shaped like piano keys. Kaaatie introduced them in two groups, a strict trio and a kind group who just want quiet in the library.

Principal example

Principal

Kaaatie confirmed Miss Grace as the principal: white ponytail, monocle, green suit and one snapped-off horn. She is on screen for a single moment near the end of the video, so how the school is run is still a blank page. A principal OC can set the rules everyone else follows; skip the monocle and the green suit and pick a signature of your own.

Pranksters example

Pranksters

Kaaatie introduced Oliver, Zip and Edward as the bullies. In the video they pelt Claire with paper airplanes and crumpled paper, send Edward's drone to drop her into the library pit, and put a fake exit sign on the one door everyone is warned never to open. A prankster OC fits right in; just give them a prank the trio hasn't already pulled.

Janitors and staff example

Janitors and staff

Kaaatie's cast has teachers and a principal but no janitor, librarian, nurse or lunch staff, so a staff OC fills a real gap. Someone has to mop the pool deck, shelve the library and lock up after dark. Pick Janitor here and write librarian, nurse or cook in Extra details for the other jobs.

Grades

Grades are what everyone at Paper School fears. The video turns on two failed tests: Abbie's in Miss Circle's math class and Claire's in Miss Bloomie's science class. Marks also show up as design: Oliver wears a red A+ in his hair and Zip has the wrong sum 2 + 2 = 8 written in hers. A grade on your OC tells fans their story at a glance.

Paper and ink

The whole cast is drawn as flat white paper and thick black ink, and many have solid black hands with pointed fingers. Some are built from supplies outright, like Cubbie, a black cat with a pencil sharpener for a torso. Lined, graph or origami paper is a fan twist rather than canon, and one of the quickest ways to make an OC stand out.

The Paper School

The school is a white three-floor building with four trees out front. The video visits Miss Circle's math room, a library several floors tall with a pit in the middle, the pool, the gym and the cafeteria, plus one door every student is told never to open: ∆lice's room. When it opens, the paper school turns colorful and 3D.

Names and supplies

Name your paper OC, pick a school supply

Students at Paper School go by one short name, like Zip, Skell or Cubbie, and teachers add Miss or Mister, like Miss Circle and Mister Demi. Mix a name from a school word and an ending, add Miss or Mister for a teacher, then pick a school-supply part. Every click goes straight onto your OC in the generator.

Guide

How to make an FPE OC

Whether you call it an FPE OC or a Fundamental Paper Education OC, a good one comes down to five choices. The generator does the drawing; these are yours.

  1. 1

Pick where they stand in the school

A student sits in class, a teacher towers over the desks, a principal runs the building and a janitor knows every room after dark. Pick the role first, since it sets your OC's height, outfit and the people they deal with every day.

  2. 2

Build them around one school supply

Canon designs hang on one supply: Miss Circle's compass forearm, Cubbie's pencil-sharpener torso, the letter blocks on Miss Thavel's head. Choose one nobody in the cast has, like an eraser hat, a paperclip ahoge or a desk-lamp head, and write it in School-supply part.

  3. 3

Keep it black and white, plus one accent

The cast is white paper and black ink with small touches of red and blue: Oliver's red A+, Zip's blue sum, the blue and orange-red feathers in Engel's hair. Pick one accent color and keep the rest simple. A paper type like graph or origami adds texture without clutter.

  4. 4

    Give them a grade

A grade says a lot in this school. An A student has something to protect, a D student has something to hide, and a teacher has the grade they hand out most. Set the Grade mark, then write one line in Extra details about what your OC is afraid of failing.

  5. 5

Choose a side of the hallway

Kaaatie split the school into groups: good students, the bully trio, strict teachers and kind ones. Decide which group your OC belongs to, or who they avoid, and the first scene writes itself: hiding from a pop quiz, covering for a friend, or catching the pranksters in the act.
