Sample chats

Six original trolls with distinct voices

These sample characters show how a name can lead to a coherent chat style and visual idea. The small story under each illustration suggests a daily habit, not a fixed destiny. Use any detail you like, then give your troll a different goal and relationships.

Original teal-blood troll Velnix Vexlor

Velnix Vexlor

teal blood · Seer of Breath

velvetCartographer types with a zeros quirk.

Velnix keeps a careful map of abandoned stairways and lets a pale moth lusus choose the next route. The teal coat holds folded notes, while the umbrella is a practical tool in a hive full of leaking pipes. Their messages are brief until someone asks a real question.

Original olive-blood troll Calrix Marnix

Calrix Marnix

olive blood · Knight of Life

mossyArchivist types with a lowercase quirk.

Calrix delivers paper maps between neighboring hives, marking safe paths with tiny dots. A restless marten lusus tests every shortcut before Calrix trusts it. Their quiet lowercase chat voice suits a courier who prefers listening to boasting.

Original teal-blood troll Sorren Kelmor

Sorren Kelmor

teal blood · Mage of Void

lunarVoyager types with a tildes quirk.

Sorren raises delicate glass frogs in a room of shallow pools, wearing a teal field vest over a cream shirt. They wrap messages in soft tildes when talking to friends, then use a ribbon to tag jars and sketch routes through the moonlit marsh. Their title is a story hook, not an automatic power.

Original rust-blood troll Valren Brevik

Valren Brevik

rust blood · Page of Hope

copperBellmaker types with a brackets quirk.

Valren repairs small lanterns for anyone whose hive has gone dark. A barn owl lusus watches the workshop rafters while Valren marks private thoughts in square brackets. The bright lamp on their coat is an original symbol of a promise they made.

Original gold-blood troll Talrix Corlor

Talrix Corlor

gold blood · Rogue of Mind

amberSurveyor types with a dots quirk.

Talrix studies old maps but checks every line against the terrain. Their gold jacket has a plain geometric emblem, and a tree shrew lusus steals discarded drafts. They use trailing dots when a plan is unfinished, leaving room for another person to answer.

Original jade-blood troll Firven Marmor

Firven Marmor

jade blood · Sylph of Space

gentleBotanist types with a smile quirk.

Firven grows hardy plants in cracked containers and sends little smile marks after successful trades. A hedgehog lusus follows them between shelves. The jade overalls and flowering shirt sign make a recognizable silhouette without borrowing any canon troll costume.

What you can make

Build a name, chat voice and story seed together

A single random name is useful for a label. A full fantroll identity helps you write a first scene. These six parts can be changed independently, so a good name never forces you to keep a quirk or classpect you dislike.

Two-part troll names

The original central trolls use a six-letter given name and a six-letter family name. This tool builds both from broad pronounceable syllable banks, then excludes known canon name parts before a result is shown. The first and family lines have separate locks. Keep a strong first name, reroll only the family line and read the pair aloud. A pleasant rhythm matters more than a hidden reference that nobody else will notice.

  • Six letters each
  • Separate locks
  • Canon part filter

Blood caste palette

Pick a caste to set the chat card text in its hemospectrum color, or leave the selector on surprise. The color is a visible social detail in the setting, but it is only one piece of an original character. Consider how your troll responds to expectations placed on that caste, who they trust, and what they choose to do when nobody is watching. The caste line can stay locked across every new batch.

  • Twelve caste settings
  • Colored chat card
  • Story prompt

Live typing quirk preview

The Homestuck quirk converter takes a sentence you type and transforms it at once. Try a line of dialogue you might actually put in a story, not a random alphabet test. The quirk generator Homestuck fans can use should help you judge readability: punctuation, case, spacing, small symbols and substitutions feel different over a full conversation. Reroll the quirk alone until the result is expressive without slowing every reader down.

Trollian-style handle

A lower camel case handle joins two words into one screen name. The handle and its two-letter initials appear in the chat card, giving you a quick visual test of whether the name suits the character. The Homestuck username generator uses many new word pairings, so a handle can suggest a craft, a place or a habit rather than echo a canon screen name. Lock it once it feels like a believable choice the troll would make.

  • Two-word handles
  • Initial badge
  • Independent reroll

Lusus and strife specibus

A lusus can shape a troll’s everyday routines, fears and favorite places. A strife specibus describes a playful inventory category, not a promise that every object is a serious weapon. The broad banks contain small animals and ordinary objects that invite character scenes: caring for an insect, repairing a lantern or carrying a compass through fog. Change these lines to fit your story while keeping the name untouched.

  • 42 lusus prompts
  • 42 specibus prompts
  • Daily-life hooks

Classpect title and card

The class and aspect pairing gives you a title to interpret, not a complete personality test. A Seer of Breath could be a shy mapmaker or an impatient observer; the story comes from how they act. Export the finished Trollian-style card as a PNG, copy its text for a character sheet or use Draw this OC to carry the name, caste and classpect into the parent image generator.

Guide

How to make an original fantroll name

The following process turns a random result into a character you can use in a comic, roleplay or private character sheet. It starts with sound and ends with a short, testable scene rather than a stack of disconnected traits.

  1. 1

    1. Roll a batch and compare the sound

Start with ten names, then read three of them aloud. Look for a six-letter pair you can remember after a minute. A name can be strange without being difficult to pronounce. Click a candidate to load its whole identity into the chat card. If the given name works but the family name does not, lock the given line and reroll the family line. The large banks leave room to explore for a long time without seeing the same pair repeatedly.

  2. 2

    2. Choose a caste, then decide what it means to this troll

Select a caste for the next featured roll or let chance choose. The text color follows the caste palette, which makes the choice legible on the signature card. Write one sentence about the troll’s relationship to that social structure. Maybe they rely on a neighbor of another caste, avoid public attention or take pride in a trade. Those choices do more character work than the color alone.

  3. 3

    3. Put a real sentence through the quirk preview

Type a sentence with a question, a pause or a joke. A short quirk description can sound charming while a whole paragraph is hard to follow. Watch the live chat preview as you reroll the rule. Keep a pattern that a reader can recognize after two messages. If the substitutions obscure important words, choose a lighter punctuation or framing rule instead. Your final typing quirk should help express a voice, not hide it.

  4. 4

    4. Connect the handle, lusus and specibus

Ask why this troll chose their handle. Does it name a hobby, an imagined future or a private joke? Give the lusus one concrete habit, such as interrupting meals or collecting shiny scraps. Treat the specibus as a source of movement and problem solving rather than a required battle scene. A lantern can light a route, a ribbon can mark a trail and an umbrella can become a shelter in bad weather.

  5. 5

    5. Write one scene that tests the classpect

The title can be a useful prompt if you turn it into an action. A Page of Hope might repair someone else’s failed signal; a Seer of Breath might notice a safe exit. Keep the scene small enough to draw or describe in a paragraph. The classpect does not determine virtue, talent or fate. It offers a vocabulary for conflict and growth while your troll’s choices remain your own.

  6. 6

    6. Save the identity and build the visual

Favorite the result so you can return to it in this browser, copy the text into your notes or download the card as a PNG. Draw this OC opens the Homestuck OC creator with the six-letter name, species, caste, class, aspect and quirk description prefilled. You can still adjust horns, shirt color and background there. The local name tool is free with no sign-up; image generation follows the parent page’s separate preview rules.
