Every Miraculous houses a kwami, a tiny magical being that embodies one concept and looks like its animal. The holder speaks a transformation phrase, like "Spots on" for the Ladybug. A young holder gets one use of their power per transformation, then has five minutes before they turn back, and the kwami must eat to recharge: Tikki likes chocolate chip cookies, Plagg lives on Camembert.

Hawk Moth uses the Butterfly Miraculous to send an akuma, a butterfly full of negative energy, into an object that belongs to someone angry or sad. That person becomes a supervillain built around the feeling. Breaking the object frees the akuma, so every akumatized OC needs one item worth fighting over.

How to make a Miraculous OC
To create a Miraculous Ladybug character that fans can picture on the team, make these five choices first. A good Ladybug OC starts with the jewel; the Miraculous OC maker handles the drawing.

Pick the jewel before the suit
The animal comes from the Miraculous, so choose it first. A canon jewel like the Fox necklace or the Turtle bracelet ties your OC to the show; an original animal gives you room to invent. Then decide how it is worn: earrings, a ring, a comb, a choker, a pocket watch.

Let the suit show who they are
In the show the animal theme stays the same for every holder, but the suit's design reflects what the holder wants deep down, so two Fox holders never look alike. Choose one suit color and one mask color, and stay away from the main cast: red with black spots, black leather with a bell, orange and white with a big tail.

Give the power a cost
A young holder uses their power once, then has five minutes before they detransform, and the kwami needs to eat before the next fight. Decide what your kwami eats, what your OC does with those five minutes, and where they hide to change back.

The magic hides a hero's identity even from friends, so the drama lives in the double life: a class at Collège Françoise Dupont, a part-time job, a best friend who must never find out. Out of costume, the jewel even changes its look to match the wearer's everyday style.
