A warrior race of human-looking aliens with monkey tails. Under a full moon, a Saiyan with a tail turns into a giant Great Ape, and Saiyans come back stronger after recovering from a beating. Frieza destroyed their home, Planet Vegeta, so only a handful survived. Every Saiyan name is a vegetable pun: Kakarot from carrot, Raditz from radish, Vegeta from vegetable.

Earth's own people. Most are human, but Earth also has animal people, and the King of the World is a dog. Earthling fighters like Krillin and Tien have no tail and no transformation, so they win with technique, training and clever ki attacks. Bulma's family is named after underwear, and many fighters are named after food.

Green-skinned aliens with antennae and pointed ears who only need water to live. Every Namekian can regrow lost limbs, and some can grow to giant size. Members of the Dragon Clan can create Dragon Balls, while warrior-type Namekians like Piccolo do the fighting. Many Namekian names come from musical instruments or Japanese words for snail.

Frieza's people have white, armor-like body plates, colored gems, horns and a long tail. They change into new forms to hold back their own power, and a few can turn golden. Their names are cold puns: Frieza from freezer, his brother Cooler, his father King Cold and Frost from Universe 6. Frieza's family runs the Frieza Force, an army that conquers planets to sell them.

Rubbery, shape-shifting people with antennae instead of hair. They stretch, regrow from almost any hit and love sweets. Majin Buu is the famous one; the playable Majin race in Dragon Ball Online and Xenoverse 2 descends from him, so a Majin OC draws on the games more than the manga.

Dr. Gero of the Red Ribbon Army built a line of numbered androids. Android 17 and 18 started as ordinary humans, so pick Earthling and write "android" in Extra details. Most of Gero's androids give off no ki, which hides them from scouters and ki sensing, and the best models never run out of energy.

The legendary Super Saiyan form turns the hair gold and the eyes teal, and strong anger or grief usually triggers it the first time. It climbs to Super Saiyan 2 and 3, which grows the hair to the waist and takes the eyebrows. Dragon Ball Super adds Super Saiyan God, with crimson hair, reached through a ritual of six Saiyans, and Super Saiyan Blue.

Ki is the life energy every fighter shapes into blasts, beams and flight. Frieza's soldiers read it as a number with scouters, which is where power levels come from. Techniques like King Kai's Kaioken multiply a fighter's ki for a moment and turn the aura crimson, at a heavy cost to the body.
