Examples
Six original characters built from the same banks the generator uses, one for each side of the story plus a shipwright with no fruit at all. They are the characters from the ideas on the One Piece OC creator, so each one already has a drawing, and none of their names, epithets or Devil Fruits appears in the series.

Devil Fruits and Haki
Every roll can land on one of five Devil Fruit types, or none, and on up to three kinds of Haki. Here is what each one means in the series, so you know what your character can do and what will stop them.
The most common type and the widest: any superhuman power that is not an animal form or an element. It can change the user's body, like Buggy's Bara Bara no Mi that splits him into pieces, work on the world around them, like Law's Ope Ope no Mi, or make something, like Mr. 3's wax. Most of the generator's fruits are Paramecia, and that is where the odd, clever powers live.
Lets the user turn into one animal, with three forms: human, full beast and a hybrid in between. The change boosts strength and toughness, and the model names the animal, as in Rob Lucci's Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard. Canon reuses families like Neko Neko and Tori Tori with new models, so the generator does the same with animals the series has not used.
A rarer branch of Zoan for animals that no longer exist, like dinosaurs and mammoths. The transformation adds prehistoric traits on top of the usual boost, from thick skull plates to giant tusks, and dinosaur models are known for being extremely hard to hurt. X Drake's Allosaurus and Jack's Mammoth are canon examples.
Turns the user into a creature of myth and legend and usually adds a special power on top, like the healing blue flames of Marco's phoenix. Mythical Zoans are regarded as rarer than Logias, so the generator keeps them scarce: a jackalope, a thunderbird or a sphinx turns up only now and then.
The rarest of the three main types. The user's body can become an element, like Ace's fire, Crocodile's sand or Smoker's smoke, so ordinary blows pass straight through. Armament Haki can still land a hit, seawater and Seastone still drain them, and many elements have a natural weakness, like water against Crocodile's sand.
Lets a fighter sense the people around them, read their feelings and, with training, see an attack coming before it lands. Anyone can learn it. In the series Haki is common in the New World, rare in Paradise and almost unknown in the four Blues, so a rookie from the East Blue who has it already has a story to tell.
Works as invisible armor. A coated fist or blade turns shiny black, hits harder and can strike a Logia user's real body. It takes hard training, and it is how fighters with no Devil Fruit, like Zoro, keep up with the ones who have one.
Lets the user overpower weaker wills and knock them out without a touch. It cannot be learned: only about one in several million people are born with it, and the strongest users can wrap their attacks in it. The generator hands it out rarely, to about six rolls in a hundred.
Guide
A One Piece OC generator gives you a first draft in one click. These five steps take you from a random wanted poster to a character you can draw and write about.
Choose an affiliation (pirate, Marine, revolutionary, bounty hunter or Cipher Pol agent) or let the generator pick. Set the Devil Fruit to random, always or never, and choose a fruit type if you only want, say, Logias. Pick a feel for the given name, and switch on the D. only if your story needs it.
One roll fills the whole poster: family name and given name, epithet, crew role or rank, race and home sea, a Devil Fruit with its power and its limit, Haki, a fighting style, a dream and, for pirates and revolutionaries, a bounty in berries.
Lock any part worth keeping: the name, the epithet, the affiliation, the race and sea, the fruit, the Haki, the style or the dream. Locked parts stay put on every roll. Locking the affiliation keeps the bounty too.
Roll again and only the parts you left open change. This is how you mix two characters into one: keep the name from one roll and the fruit from the next. Before you post, search your favorite name once more, since the filter covers the series, not every fan OC out there.
Press Draw this character to open the One Piece OC creator with your character already filled in, then pick colors, a background and an art style. For the story behind the poster, take the name, the dream and the fruit to the OC backstory generator.
