A sinner is a human soul sent to Hell after death. Their demon form echoes who they were in life, which is why so many look like an animal or an object tied to their personality. Sinners don't age, rank above imps and hellhounds, and many still dress like the decade they died in: Alastor in a 1930s look, Niffty in a 1950s maid dress.

Overlords are sinners who grew strong enough to rule a slice of Hell. Their power comes from owning souls: a sinner signs a contract or shakes on a deal, and the deal holds. A deal always states its terms, and not every one involves a soul. Alastor, Vox and Carmilla Carmine are Overlords. Pick this to use the page as a Hazbin Hotel Overlord OC generator, then write the deal they are known for.

Hellborn demons are born in Hell instead of arriving as souls, and unlike sinners they can travel between all seven rings. Imps are Hell's working class: every imp has red-toned skin, striped horns and an arrow-tipped tail, and most are shorter than a human. Hellhounds, the noble Goetia and Charlie herself are Hellborn too. The spin-off Helluva Boss centers on a small business run by imps.

Exorcists are angels in Heaven's army. For years they came down to the Pride Ring once a year for the Extermination, a purge to keep Hell's population in check. They wear grey feather-patterned uniforms, black-to-grey wings, dark halos and horned masks with screen faces, and they carry weapons of angelic steel.

Winners are human souls who made it into Heaven, the angel side of what a sinner is in Hell. They live beside native angels such as the six-winged Seraphim and the cherubs, with halos and wings of their own. At the end of season 1, Sir Pentious became the first sinner ever redeemed and rose to Heaven as a Winner.
Hell is seven rings stacked on top of each other, each named for a deadly sin, such as Pride, Wrath, Greed and Gluttony. The Pride Ring sits on top, under a red sky with a pentagram moon, and holds Pentagram City and the hotel. Sinners can never leave it: a magic barrier stops them at the edge.
Charlie Morningstar, the princess of Hell, opened the Happy Hotel to rehabilitate sinners so they could be redeemed and enter Heaven instead of facing the Extermination. Alastor renamed it the Hazbin Hotel. A guest OC needs a reason to check in and one habit they are trying to break.

Guide
A memorable Hazbin Hotel OC comes down to five decisions. This Hazbin Hotel OC creator handles the drawing; these are worth making first.
Sinners, Overlords, imps, Exorcists and Winners live very different stories. A sinner is stuck in the Pride Ring, an imp works for higher-ranked demons, an Overlord owns souls, and until season 1 the Exorcists never expected anyone to fight back. Choose the kind first and let the rest follow.
A sinner's demon form echoes who they were, so start with the human: their job, their worst habit, the decade they lived in. Then pick one animal motif and one fashion era. Alastor's 1930s radio-host look works because the era and the job match.
Designs in the show read at a glance: one strong silhouette feature (tall ears, curled horns, a fin), one main color with black or white, and an accent in the eyes. Set Skin color and Outfit color, then describe colored sclera, such as ice-blue with gold irises, in Extra details.
Power in this Hell runs on deals. Write one in Power or deal with clear terms, like "one wish for one favor". Even a sinner's own power should have a catch, such as a camera flash that freezes everyone, the user included.
The hotel is where most OCs meet the cast. Decide what your OC wants from redemption, the habit they are trying to break, and who in Hell would hate to see them change.
