Object Show OC Maker & Creator

This free object show OC creator turns an everyday thing into a new contestant, host or recommended character. Pick a clear object silhouette, choose stick limbs and a face, then give your object OC a team, a challenge habit and a reason to stay in the game. It is a genre-wide object show maker, so your character can belong to a show you invent instead of copying one existing cast.

Object show cast roles, explained

Battle for Dream Island began in 2010 and helped establish the object-show format. Inanimate Insanity followed in 2011. Both show how a simple face and limbs can carry a strong personality, but this page is for your own universe. Start with what the object is, then decide how a team, challenge and elimination vote reveal its character.

Contestant example

Contestant

Give a contestant one useful challenge skill and one habit that frustrates the team. Brassy can navigate but insists on leading even when another teammate has the better idea. That tension makes votes and alliances feel earned.

Host example

Host

A host explains the rules, introduces surprises and manages elimination. Give yours a consistent way of speaking and a fair rule they refuse to break. A host can be funny without borrowing the look of a famous host.

Recommended character example

Recommended character

A recommended character is a fan-suggested hopeful who may appear before joining the regular cast. Design the silhouette so viewers can recognize it in one frame, then imagine what the character would do if given one challenge.

Team captain example

Team captain

The captain makes plans, distributes jobs and absorbs blame when a challenge fails. Build a captain whose strategy has a blind spot. The best team scenes come from teammates disagreeing for understandable reasons.

Challenge designer example

Challenge designer

A designer can turn ordinary props into a maze, race or puzzle. Give the challenge a simple rule viewers understand and one twist that tests a contestant weakness. Keep elimination consequences playful and clear.

Names and tricks

Names, teams and challenge tricks

A readable object name helps the audience recognize a contestant before the first vote. Mix a material, sound or mood word with an object word, then test whether the result sounds natural when a host says it aloud. Use a nickname if the full name is long.

Mix an original object name

texture or mood + everyday thing

Challenge tricks

Pick an ability with a tradeoff the team will notice.

Guide

How to make an object show OC

An object show character works when the object, face, limbs and social role all tell the same story. These five steps take a loose object show oc idea to a character you can use in a cast sheet or storyboard.

  1. 1

    Choose a less common object

Pick a compass case, seed packet or kitchen timer instead of a familiar main-cast object. Look at existing BFDI and Inanimate Insanity characters before settling on the name. A distinctive silhouette matters more than extra decoration.

  2. 2

Place the face where it reads

The face should remain clear at thumbnail size. Choose oval eyes, a worried mouth or a crooked grin that reflects the personality. Keep labels on the object blank so the art does not depend on written text.

  3. 3

    Set the limbs and motion

Classic stick arms and legs fit the genre, but an armless lantern or ribbon-armed packet can stand out. Decide how the object moves through a challenge and whether its shape helps or hinders the team.

  4. 4

Write a team and vote story

Give the character an alliance, a disagreement and a vote they remember. A contestant who learns from an elimination scare has more to do than one who wins everything. Hosts and recommended characters need motives too.

  5. 5

    Draw, compare and revise

Load an idea card, change the object and challenge trick, then draw the result. Compare its silhouette with a small icon and a large portrait. Save the version that would still be recognizable in a crowded episode.
