Magic Winx
The first fairy form, from season 1. At the end of that season Faragonda makes "Winx" the Alfea word for a modern fairy. The outfits are simple, in two or three colors, with small glittering wings and heeled boots. A fairy can transform once she truly believes in her own magic.

Enchantix
After Winx and Charmix, the second-year boost a fairy earns by facing a fear, comes Enchantix: the final fairy form of an Alfea education and its final exam. A fairy earns it by saving someone from her home realm at a great cost to herself. It brings fairy dust, flowing jeweled outfits, long gloves and big wings, and a graduate becomes her realm's Guardian Fairy.

Believix
The season 4 form, earned by making people believe in fairies again, so it can only be won on Earth or in places that stopped believing in magic. It weakens when belief fades. The outfits are casual and Earth-styled, with layered skirts or capris, knee-high socks and boots, and three extra wing sets: Speedix, Zoomix and Tracix.

Sirenix
An ancient form born of ocean magic, from season 5. A fairy must find the Gems of Self-Confidence, Empathy and Courage within one lunar cycle or lose her powers for good. Sirenix lets her breathe underwater and open a gate to the Infinite Ocean, and her hair gains colored streaks when she swims.

Butterflix
The first form of season 7, earned by proving herself a true defender of the Fairy Animals. It gives nature-based power that can never harm nature itself. The dresses are bright, layered and fluffy with butterfly-wing details, and the wings are big and patterned like real butterflies.

Alfea fairies
Alfea College for Fairies is a girls' boarding school in Magix, led by Headmistress Faragonda, with Griselda as head of discipline. Most students are 16 to 19, and the course lasts three years, one for each standard fairy form. Graduates guard their home realms, so every fairy OC needs a realm to come from.

Cloud Tower witches
Alfea's rival school, a dark purple tower of spires that is itself a living castle, headed by Griffin. Witches study hexes, curses and potions for at least three years, and they fly without fairy wings. The Trix began here and were expelled, so a witch OC can be a rival, a reluctant ally or a witch who changes sides.

Red Fountain specialists
Red Fountain, across the lake from Alfea, trains the Specialists: young warriors who fight with swords, phantoblades and blasters, ride dragons and fly ships, under Headmaster Saladin. Specialists have no wings and no magic. Before season 8 the uniform was a blue and beige bodysuit with a blue cape held by a round gem.
