Build an HxH OC around a Hunter specialty, a Nen affinity and an ability with a clear limit. This Hunter x Hunter OC maker connects the power to a hometown and an exam goal. Try Surprise me for a local random roll, then edit the profile and draw your character.

Ideas
Each idea separates a visual design from a proposed fan-made ability. The ability descriptions are creative starting points, not official techniques or a promise that one category explains every advanced effect. Read the activation, scope and failure condition together. Use this idea loads the fields so you can adjust the cost before drawing. All six characters have different faces, equipment and motives; none needs a famous family connection or an inherited canonical power.

Know the rules
Water Divination uses a leaf floating on water while the student applies aura. The result identifies an affinity; it does not hand the student a finished ability. Use the result below as a profile detail, then invent a limited technique appropriate to the character’s practice. The picture tiles above are travel looks, not Nen categories: a cook or musician can have any affinity. The rules cards load the actual Nen selection independently.

Water Divination changes the water’s volume. Enhancement strengthens existing capabilities. For an original concept, choose a narrow action the Hunter has practiced: sustained carrying, careful tool work or recovery between short tasks. Then ask what the character cannot do while concentrating on it. Taro’s food-preparation endurance is a fan-made example, not a canonical technique. Avoid treating this affinity as permission to win every physical contest. A clear preparation requirement and an ordinary weakness give a partner something useful to contribute.

Water Divination changes the taste. Transmutation alters aura properties. Write what the aura feels or behaves like before describing a special effect. Ossa’s compressible gripping layer is an original design exercise, limited to handling equipment. It is not a claim that aura becomes an actual substance. Specify coverage and concentration requirements, then test the concept in an inconvenient scene such as rain, noise or a heavy load. A new property with a practical purpose is more personal than copying a familiar electricity-based fighting style.

Water Divination changes the water’s color. Emission concerns aura separated from the body. For a first concept, think about how far the effect travels and when it ends. Nemi’s proposed surveying pulse requires a complete phrase and a still listener. If a technique also detects information or controls something, acknowledge that further Nen mechanics may be involved rather than claiming every function is pure Emission. Describe what a teammate can observe when the ability starts, and give the user a reason to stop before running out of stamina.

Water Divination produces impurities. Conjuration creates objects from aura. Start with a single object that solves a narrow problem, then explain its special rules separately. Ruvan’s measuring frame helps record visible structures; it does not reveal every secret in a ruin. Decide whether the object can be replaced, how many can exist, and what preparation is required. A tool that breaks a plan when misplaced gives the character more interesting choices than a magical inventory that contains exactly the right answer to every obstacle.

Water Divination moves the leaf. Manipulation controls a target. This page favors teen-safe object examples so the activation and boundaries stay easy to explain. Elda’s prepared paper trays follow fixed routes after she touches them; the ability cannot suddenly take over an unrelated object. Define how a target is selected and how control ends. A physical setup step creates a visible risk of interruption. Keep the visual design original too: equipment does not need to resemble a familiar character’s needles, phone or costume.

A Water Divination effect outside the other five results indicates Specialization. Its abilities do not fit the other categories neatly. That is a reason to explain your concept more carefully, not less. Savi’s object impressions are uncertain, slow and restricted by permission. The character cannot choose the historical moment or use a glimpse as proof. Keep one unusual function and resist adding unrelated powers. A partner who checks records can remain essential even when the Specialist notices something nobody else can.
Names and abilities
The local mixer changes the name without using an AI request. Read a result aloud and check it against the cast before settling on it. A character’s origin can explain their naming conventions without forcing every Hunter into one real-world language. The ability seeds below are unfinished fan concepts. After selecting one, match its mechanics to a Nen affinity and add a meaningful cost in the separate field. Do not assume the seed already accounts for every advanced Nen interaction.
a short given name + a distinct surname
Pick a seed, then choose its affinity and write the cost.
Guide
Good Hunter profiles connect curiosity, training and limitations. Work through these five steps before polishing the portrait. You do not need to decide every technique the character might learn in the future. One useful ability, one task and one relationship give you enough material for a first scene. Keep the character sheet separate from your author notes so future possibilities do not accidentally become abilities the rookie already possesses.
Choose a specific pursuit rather than the abstract goal of becoming powerful. A Music Hunter might search for a forgotten performance tradition; a Gourmet Hunter might document a rare grain; a Treasure Hunter might trace an abandoned trade route. These are original story hooks within established specialties. Give the pursuit a personal reason and someone who disagrees with the plan. An OC who wants access to a distant archive has a clear reason to travel, study and eventually face the Hunter Exam.
Write where the character grew up, what work they already know and why they would accept the exam’s risks. A ferry town, a greenhouse business or an archive makes a useful original hometown context. Do not make every character an unknown relative of the main cast. Separate an applicant’s current skills from future Nen training. If you select an exam applicant and also choose a Nen type, describe that affinity as a future plan unless your backstory explicitly explains earlier instruction.
The hunter x hunter random character generator on this page is the editor’s Surprise me button. It rolls actual field choices locally; it does not call an image API. Press it, inspect the resulting Nen type, travel look and specialty, then keep the useful combination and change anything that conflicts. The four travel looks are visual prompts, not strict job assignments. A Music Hunter can carry field equipment. The local name mixer gives another quick roll without replacing the whole concept. Drawing remains a separate action.
Use this compact profile in your notes: Ability name: [ ]; affinity: [ ]; activation: [ ]; exact effect: [ ]; target: [ ]; range: [ ]; duration: [ ]; cost: [ ]; failure condition: [ ]; counterplay: [ ]. A condition is something that must be met; a vow is a serious self-imposed commitment. Do not invent a universal numeric exchange rate between sacrifice and power. Test your ability against a boring problem, a stressful problem and a situation where another Hunter is clearly better suited to help.
Pick a main outfit color, one accent and one piece of equipment that explains the job. Keep the face, hair and clothing different from the canon cast. The home style uses clean 2011-era shonen anime contours and cel shading. Try another style after the silhouette works. Save the text profile beside the portrait, and compare generated details with your notes before sharing. A Nen core mechanic, an invisible vow or an exam history belongs in the written profile even when the image cannot communicate it.
